Summary:

Scholarship for talent
The Polgar Foundation (PAE) will support 75 young Roma people aged 12 to18 with above-average talents in a given field by developing their talents and assisting with their academic work. The project will rely on the 1-year collaboration of our foundation and the Roma Talent Development Council (RTT) - a preparatory period for this project. Once the project ends, we plan to sustain the scholarship programme with the support of the Hungarian Genius Programme, additional grant resources and our own funds. We decided to target talented gifted Roma children with multiple disadvantages with our scholarship programme because support provided by this grant can be more focused and efficient in their case. PAE has several years' experience in the research and scholarship-distributing aspects of talent scouting and identifying appropriate tools for talent development. We developed a database of Roma talents (romatehetseg.hu) that we plan to utilise in this project. The database contains potential young talents identified by an institution or the RTT. We are currently working on identifying children by using various talent-scouting methods. At the beginning of 2013, we plan to register 120 children in the database, and children participating in the project will be selected from his pool. A complex talent development system will be customised to each child’s needs in cooperation with the participants, their families, the sponsoring organisations and the mentors.
