Our aim is to make and be able to operate a so called fruit bank and school garden with which we have the possibility to develop a century old tradition of growing fruit and the view of self – sufficiency in Onga and in the neighbourhood.
Our aim groups of the project are the seventh and the eighth class students of the primary school, their families and all the inhabitants of the town.
Main tasks are as a part of a common work in the area of the school garden to cut down brushwood, to plant fruit trees, taking care of them, to supply them with information tablets, to get to know the practical steps of fruit processing (drying, preservation, making jam etc.) to make self –sufficiency general, to make a so called fruit bank.
People included beside the membership of the association are the students, teachers of the primary school of Onga, the families of these students and we can say that the project is open to everybody.
Cooperative partners are the primary school and the local self- government. Beside the concrete aim group the whole settlement can get profit from the project, but it can make possibilities for people who work with growing fruit trees in this region as well. The fruit bank’s task is to help the hobby and professional gardeners through concrete classes and examples and to help to bring into fashion the self - sufficiency among people living at a disadvantage.
